Digital Life Asia is a media startup founded by Joey Alarilla a.k.a. babelmachine.
Joey is a content creator, digital storyteller, and former technology journalist with over 20 years of experience. He believes in promoting crypto for creators, blockchain for good, and web3 for a better world.
As one of the pioneers that spun off INQ7 (now called INQUIRER.net) from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Joey managed portals that attracted new audiences and generated new revenue streams, including the hackenslash gaming news site and Global Nation portal for Filipinos abroad.
He trained INQUIRER.net’s first multimedia journalists and launched the site's blog, podcast, and online video networks. He was also one of the pioneering tech bloggers of Singapore-based CNET Asia and a multimedia critic for US-based PopMatters.com.
As Yahoo!’s SEA Head of Social and Community, he built and implemented the vision to acquire, retain and grow the Yahoo! community in Southeast Asia.
He won third prize in the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature for his essay "Surviving the Zeroes".
He is the author of the Philippine Internet Commerce Society’s "E-Business Made Easy" handbook for SMEs, and contributed an essay to "Tikman Ang Langit: An Anthology on the Eraserheads" and to ANI 32, the 32nd edition of the official literary journal of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
